SANDRA BROWN: TEXAN BESTSELLING WRITER

What is it like to have 67 books on the New York Times bestseller lists? Ask author Sandra Brown who has written more than 70 thrillers, romances and historical fiction titles.  A Texas native and graduate of Texas Christian University, she began a career in television as a weathercaster and reporter. It was a dare from her husband that prompted her to write her first book and launched a spectacular career that includes her work being translated into 34 languages.

Ms. Brown’s books can be found on the shelves at the Monrovia Public Library in the Fiction, Large Print, CD and Spanish sections. Let’s take a look at her newest title Friction, the suspenseful story of Texas Ranger Crawford Hunt who pursues an unknown gun man who enters a courtroom while the lawman is in the middle of a child custody hearing. Page-turning excitement!

Some of Brown’s other most popular stand alone thrillers include Envy about a publisher who meets a mysterious author who has written a tantalizing new book, Chill Factor about a writer who waits out a storm in her cabin while tending to a stranger who may be a criminal and Lethal about a woman who discovers that the people in charge of her town, people she formerly trusted, may be corrupt. Sandra Brown thrillers are highlighted by strong and clever female characters, plots with plenty of twists and turns and enough momentum to keep readers up at night.

For those who like historical fiction the Texas! Trilogy—Texas Lucky, Texas Chase and Texas Sage-- will fill the bill. These novels about 3 siblings who belong to the Tyler Drilling Company family are for readers who enjoy a good saga with gentle romance. And, if affairs of the heart are your thing—how about some of Brown’s romance books, Breakfast in Bed and Send No Flowers both from the Bed & Breakfast series.
