Novel T's Book Club Rundown

Share Your Love of Books with the Novel T’s!!!

The Novel T’s Book Club meets at the Monrovia Public Library every 4th Tuesday at 6:45 to discuss literary works selected by the members, with a representation of both fiction and non-fiction.

The newly released biography of Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor “My Beloved World” was the topic of our May 28th meeting. All of us were impressed with her remarkable ability to take on new challenges throughout her life and rise to her current position despite the many obstacles she faced. We all admired Justice Sotomayor’s ability to stay true to her humble roots and serve as a positive role model for all women. The many dimensions of Justice Sotomayor’s life made for a thought provoking discussion.

On June 25th,  we will shift gears and move into historical fiction. “The Accursed” by Joyce Carol Oates will be our featured selection. This novel takes us to Princeton, New Jersey at the turn of the last century. The town is cursed and all of the daughters of the elite families begin disappearing. This gothic mystery has been described as “Ragtime” set in Dracula’s castle. All are welcome to join the discussion and settle in for a “chilling” summer of reading. Books will be selected for the coming months at the June meeting.  The discussion begins at 6:45 in the Library Community Room, and light refreshments will be served.
