Jeanne Wakatsuki Houston comes to Monrovia Library

April 14 is a very special day at Monrovia Library. The author of Farewell to Manzanar, a U.S. citizen who spent three years in a United States internment camp during World War II just for the way she looked, will be talking about her experiences and her book in the Library Story Time Room starting at 1:00 p.m.

If you want to read the book before the author visits, please stop by the Adult Reference Desk to get a copy.

How did Monrovia Library get so lucky? Cal Humanities teamed up with the National Endowment for the Humanities to create CA Reads - Searching for Democracy, a Statewide initiative to talk about what democracy means, where it is heading, and what the dangers to it are. Other partners are The California Center for the Book and Friends of the Monrovia Public Library.
